[LOG] CLUB FAIR AT LUNCH

It's now a couple of weeks into school and it's about time for a real club fair hosted by the Student Council! Tables are set up around the lunchroom giving students a chance to talk to the different club presidents and members about joining. Lunch has been extended to an hour and a half today with a few of the teachers and students grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers for the student body. You were even given one of those little cards where you have to get signatures from 4 different club presidents proving you participated for credit!

Caspian didn't mind being asked to help out at the table sponsoring the boys soccer team, but he didn't exactly seem the most professional. He had his own way of doing it, one of which being sitting on the table instead of at a chair behind it. Whenever his sights land on someone he thinks would be perfect material for their team he pulls them over, urging them to sign up with a smile and a heavy hand on their shoulder.

Langley sighed heavily, he seemed to have lost his friends in the crowd as they wandered past potential clubs they would sign up for. He suddenly stopped in front of a particular table, which happened to be the throne of a dashing upperclassman but unfortunately for Langley's short stature he cannot see past the tall giants surrounding him. Hopefully he would be able to join the team and prove he's a good enough player. The ball is life, after all.

Caspian's eyes were watching the flow of people when a particular patch of bright orange hair passed by to eventually stop in front of his table. Hm, he seemed to be pretty quiet, but with a good once over he looked good soccer material. "Sup kid," he smiled, jumping off the table to look at the shorter kid. "Interested in joining the soccer team? You look like you'd be perfect."

Langley had to crane his neck to look up at the taller boy. He looked big and strong, and this frightened Langley a bit. "Well yeah, I was on the soccer team back in middle school..." He looked down slightly to avert his gaze, his freckled face tinging pink. "Not gonna brag or anything, but I was pretty good."

"Yeah?" Caspian smiled a bit, the shorter kid seemed nervous and well, that was to be expected. "Then I'll be expecting you at tryouts then this Saturday," as he spoke his arm swept around Langley, ushering him to the table and to the sign up sheet. "What did you play? Favorite position?" If there was one thing that definitely got Caspian chatty it was soccer.

Langley fumbled with the pen as he wrote his name and info in big chunky letters, he shrugged. "Well, I used to play forward but then I twisted my ankle after tripping over the ball, so nowadays i mostly play midfield..."

Langley was not about to mention his infamous pranks he pulled on the opposing soccer teams that nearly got him suspended.

Caspian frowned at hearing about the injury. "Tripping over the ball?" it was sort of a funny thought, but he suppressed the urge to laugh in favor of building a little morale with his future teammate, and turned a little more serious. "Make sure you take care of yourself, y'know? You'll have hell to hear from me if you're pushing yourself."

Once Langley was finished scribbling out his name the paper was snatched by the upperclassman who read it. "Langley, huh? Cool," setting the paper back he extended his hand properly then, "Name's Caspian, you're a freshman right?"

He took his hand and eagerly shook it. "Yeah!! I'm excited to see how this season plays out!" He smiled wide and gave Caspian a salute.

He had a good grip for a handshake, good! Caspian grinned as he shook back firmly. "Same here, I think we're gonna have a pretty strong team this year. Anything to get up to par and head to state. Soccer will swoop in and steal the spotlight at the pep rally, football won't always have the lights." He was pretty serious about it, it wasn't that he disliked the football team, it was more that it always got more of the attention than the other sports. It may have left a tiny sour note in the back of Caspian's mind. The players were fine too, he didn't mind Clint, Cassidy was real chill and he knew of a few others. He would have no idea the football team would include his best friend soon though.

Turning back to Langley he clenched his hand in a fist, "Point is, we're going all the way to the top this year."

Langley grinned and jumped high in the air, Caspian will soon learn just how energetic he really was. "Should we prank them?? I know some really good ones that worked a few times!" A fiery glint arose in his brown mischievous eyes.

Caspian's eyebrows raised a bit at the mention of a prank. "Oh? That could be interesting," he smiled a little to himself. "What did you have in mind?" Truly, this idea was very captivating. Despite being pretty true to the rules usually, a little pre-game fun was never out of the question.

Langley blushed and began to mumble since he didn't realize Caspian heard him. "I heard the football team's got a rep for getting in trouble..." He grinned.

Lifting his eyebrows at Langley's response, Caspian pondered it for a moment. "What exactly are you thinking about doing?" he was a bit on the fence, he didn't exactly like placing blame on other teams exactly. That wasn't his style, he'd rather do it himself and take the fall if they got found out.
