[LOG] CLUB FAIR AT LUNCH

Who: EVERYONE
What: Lunch + Club Fair
When: End of the 2nd week of School
Where: Lunchroom and Courtyard

It's now a couple of weeks into school and it's about time for a real club fair hosted by the Student Council! Tables are set up around the lunchroom giving students a chance to talk to the different club presidents and members about joining. Lunch has been extended to an hour and a half today with a few of the teachers and students grilling up hot dogs and hamburgers for the student body. You were even given one of those little cards where you have to get signatures from 4 different club presidents proving you participated for credit!

He leaned a bit further away from her, looking to the side. A slight redness was creeping into his face.
"I was referring to how you plan to douse yourself in ice water as a draw to get students attracted to your organization. Clearly that is an inappropriate seduction tactic, hence 'obscene'." He gives her a pointed look out of the corner of his eye for just a second, but otherwise refuses to look directly at her.

Doris raised a brow, pacing around to be on the other side of him. "seduction tactic? Why, that's most certainly not the case! I'm doing it for the good of the team. For the sake of getting more members, for creating a stronger bond between teammates. For the good of the team! People do these things all the time for charities and spreading awareness, yet you think my intentions are purely out of self-interest and romance."
It's definitely a seduction tactic. It's Doris. There really wasn't any doubt in the first place.
"If you think that's the best I can do," she leaned in towards him, a coy grin tugging at her cheeks. "Then you're really in for a surprise."

Now that she was on the other side, he took the opportunity to step away from her again.
"You are the one who first mentioned anything about self-interest or romance. And I am quite sure that there are more reputable tactics for benefiting your team than what you are currently doing." He said a bit quickly. "And I am most certain that any truly upstanding organization would not have to resort to anything so uncouth."

As she leaned toward him and spoke of a 'surprise' the redness in his face blossomed.
"I want no part of it." He hissed, trying to look anywhere but at her.

Doris was silent for a moment, looking him over. "Right, yeah. I'm sure you just want absolutely nothing. That you have no remote interest whatsoever. That no matter what I say or do, not a single solitary thing will change."
She reached out to brush her hand against his arm lightly.
"So you have no reason to be so uptight, then, yeah? I'm not a dog. I won't bite you or anything."
Her sneaky expression suggests otherwise.

"That is absolutely, entirely, and sincerely true."

"You would be better off attempting your crude sales pitch eLSEWHERE."
...oh.
His voice cracked.

Doris' eyes lit up, and she took a final step towards him. Her grin was definitely a bit smug now. "You may look like a businessman, but you sure can't lie like one."

"You haven't left yet, is the thing. You're still here with me, even after all that talk." She chuckled, tugging the neck of her t-shirt out. "That interest, at least, is not a bad place to start. I'm Doris." and with that she moved away, leaning against the wall nearby him.

"This conversation is hardly grounds to be judging my ability to lie, considering not a single thing I have said during our entire interaction has been untrue!" He almost yells, utterly indignant.

"I haven't left because-" ...Because.

....
In all honestly he hadn't left because he didn't know how. This had never happened before.
He didn't know how to deal with these kinds of situations.
"-it would have been rude." He finished.
But she moved out of his personal space and finally gave herself a proper introduction so this was back into familiar territory.
"And I am Lawrence." He adds quietly, awkwardly readjusting his tie.

Doris stifled a laugh at his last comment. Rude? Right, right. Whatever you say, buddy.

"Lawrence, then. Not a bad name." She glanced off to the faculty, tucking part of her hair behind her ear. "Been here long? You're definitely not one I've seen here too often." She giggled. "Or at least, not one I've paid proper attention to before."

She gestured to the lunchroom. "You already filled out your club stuff? Doesn't look like you were in there too long, sug."

"You wouldn't have; I just started here this year. I transferred." He said flatly, dusting off the front of his shirt, solely to do something with his hands.

He shifted awkwardly and made a face at being called 'sug'. He took the opportunity to look back at the cafeteria.
"Ah. That." Lawrence cleared his throat and clasped his hands behind his back "No... I have not. I had decided it was time for a...respite from the event."

Doris smiled, murmuring something under her breath about 'fresh meat'.

"Well, nothing wrong with taking a break, I suppose." She took a step away from the wall, stretching her arms high above her head, the bottom of her shirt rising to mid-thigh. "I mean, that's why I'm here. Had I not come out, I wouldn't have had the pleasure of your company." She lowered her arms, placing her hands on her hips with a small sigh. Doris turned to glance at him.

"How fortunate for the both of us. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to see you again."

When Lawrence noticed the rising hemline of her shirt, his eyes snapped forward and the fire in his cheeks that had just been dying down burst back to life.

"Perhaps. Itwasapleasuretomeetyou, goodbye." He said without looking at her again, and hurried away.

Doris folded her arms as she watched him go. "See you next time, then." She said with a small laugh. What a weird kid.

She did one final stretch before heading back inside, eager to see if her list of signatures was full yet.
