Be there early, the Resident Assistant orientation packet said. Help the students find their rooms, the packet said. Help the students carry carfuls of belongings up and down 1-3 flights of stairs, the actual obligation turned out to be. After about an hour Vivienne had tied her hair up, knotted her shirt somewhere near her ribs with an extra scrunchie, and given up any intention of making a pristine first impression on anyone who wasn't already familiar with the former-Sophomore-acting-Junior-class representative.

Packets of papers and their corresponding keys were organized alphabetically by surname on a fold-out table at the entrance to her building. "Alright, who's next?"

say hello to the new TRANSFER STUDENT

"Arkwright," came an unmistakably bored tone.

Aurabri stood; phone in hand, pristine white suitcase in tow, waiting to be acknowledged. This was their natural state.

“Arkwright...comma Aurabri,” Vivienne acknowledged. She found the corresponding packet and key envelope. “Here. Fill out and return the last sheet to me before Friday. Don’t make me hunt you down for it.” She rattled off a short list of her responsibilities to the white-haired student, and what was expected of them in return, before passing the papers over. “Vivienne Delaroux, RA.” She politely offered her hand.

There was something about her phrasing that was ... off-putting, but Aurabri shrugged it away. They took her hand in a delicate, yet confident, grip.

"I assume you're also the one who will be helping me with my bags?" they inquire innocently, shaking her hand and maintaining eye contact.

Yeah, she'd seen that coming. Vivienne sighed, clearly put-upon, and propped a hand on her hip. "Yes, I suppose, if you don't have friends or family to help." She watched, and...no, no it didn't look like they did. "Alright, yes, I'm the one who'll be helping with your bags. You're on the second floor."

She stepped forward to take one of Aurabri's bags. "...at least it's nice luggage. What's your major, then?" Small talk, to be made as she grabbed things and prepared to carry them upstairs. Again.
