Rosalind stared stonily at each and every student as they filed into the gym. Under her gaze, even the innocent ones looked away guiltily as if she knew every class they'd skipped over the past four years. 

Once they were all seated on the rows of bleachers, she continued to stare, arms folded, until everyone was sweating with nerves.

"Which one of you," she said with the cold of a thousand winters in her voice. "Put Mr. Calloway's car on the roof of the school."

Meekus crossed his arms and tried one more time. "Jojo, we both know the only people who could and would pull this one off is the football team. I remember the motorcycle incident as well as you do. If one of you confesses to it now, maybe we can still let you all play in the big game next week with minimal consequences. Detention, maybe. But if this escalates any further Ms. Strangenorth is going to find it necessary to give out a harsher punishment for the guilty parties."

Jojo shifts his weight a little from one foot to another. Man, he really didn't want to get kicked off the team, or expelled, or whatevers worse that Ms. Strangenorth could think up. But also, he didn't want to be in all that trouble AND have Lia mad at him. It's sort of a lose-lose situation here, Jojo's realizing.

" Maaann, Mr. Meekus, you know my grades are already just hittin the mark to stay on the team. Why would I do shit lik-- er. Stuff like this that could get me kicked off?? Man, you really think I'd do this? I thought we were cool, man. "

"Look, Jojo." Meekus sighed and rubbed his forehead. "I'm not looking for a full confession, and I'm certainly not going to tell anyone that you snitched. But if you can just point me toward someone who might be a little more likely to tell me what happened. If I can't get anything out of you guys now, Rosali- Ms. Strangenorth is going to start searching lockers and looking at security tapes. Maybe even going through cell phones."

Jojo glanced up to the ceiling a little. Shit, did they actually have security cameras?? How could he be here three years and not know that.
" Uhhh, I mean. "

"Man I got no idea. Even if I did you know I couldn' be the one to snitch on everyone."

He could totally delete all the text messages before Strangenorth got his phone, right. Are they even allowed to check phones?? are there really cameras?? They're so fucked.

Meekus shook his head. "I'm disappointed, Jojo. In you and your whole team. Pranks and loyalty to your friends is one thing - making consequences for the entire school because you refuse to accept punishment for you actions is something else entirely.

"I'll give you one last chance to name someone, or you can go back to your seat."

Shit man this was getting harsh. Jojo looked like he obviously felt pretty bad, and that hey maybe Meekus was right.

Still, he just shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets. " You already talked to Clint n he didn't know. He's the only person I could think of who would know. But he didnt, apparently, so I got no idea. Sorry, man."

Someone is going to be punished for this, and the longer it takes to catch them, the worse the punishment will be. But if you're determined not to say anything, you can go back to your seat."

Jojo looked like maybe he'd say something, but just shrugged again and glanced away. Man fuck this, he's not going to get his friends in trouble.

He shuffles back to his seat looking hella guilty, and pulls out his phone as soon as he's out of Rosalind's direct eyesight.
