Rosalind stared stonily at each and every student as they filed into the gym. Under her gaze, even the innocent ones looked away guiltily as if she knew every class they'd skipped over the past four years. 

Once they were all seated on the rows of bleachers, she continued to stare, arms folded, until everyone was sweating with nerves.

"Which one of you," she said with the cold of a thousand winters in her voice. "Put Mr. Calloway's car on the roof of the school."

He scoffed loudly.

"No, I mean it's literally half the joke, idiot. This isn't just a prank on the principal; it's a prank on us, too. 'Whoever' -" he used some pretty intense air-quotes there, "- is behind this has successfully pranked the entire school."

Oh. Areli frowned.

" Well, whatever. It's a shitty joke. They're not making anyone like them. "

"Maybe not you," he responded casually, "but this is what attracts people to them - the certain crowd they're looking for, anyway. Listen around - half the people think it's hilarious. This is how they recruit."

Areli slides around so he can sit sideways, so he didn't have to turn around constantly to talk to Eli. He was taking up more space, and Eli probably has less leg room, but hey, now Eli didn't have Areli's hair brushing against him so that was something right.

"And what do you think?"

"I think it's hilarious," he laughed. "I also think this got me out of gym class. So. Props to them."

He flipped his phone out, let out another laugh, and began replying to a text.

"We'll see how funny it is once we're here after school ends. " He huffs.
