Yup. There it was. "Yeah... Him." She raised an eyebrow.

"What? Why? What's wrong with my asking him?"

"You were supposed to go with Bucky!" Cassandra throws her hands up in the air. "I can't believe it! Really, why did you ask him?"

"HUH?? Why would I go with Bucky??" She throws her arms up in response.

"Shouldn't you be getting mad at me for not going with you?? This doesn't make sense!!"

"Because he's Bucky and you're you." Cassandra sighs dramatically. "You're so rude. I wanted to ask you because I figure you'd never get around to asking anyone, but if you were going to ask someone, it should've been Bucky."

"That's not an answer!" She grumbles. "I-fuck-sorry I mean. I appreciate the thought. Sure. But."

"I have no reason to ask him. He's just a friend! He'd probably think it was boring and run around and make fun of me for not being able to dance or do anything."

"You don't know that unless you ask. And unless you went together." Cass huffs and crosses her arms.

She's in denial

"I don't see why you're so caught up on this." Seriously though, he was one of her best friends! She didn't like him that way. She couldn't. He probably felt the same on the matter too. As far as Aerika could figure a dance where dressing up was involved just wouldn't be a good time to him. She was trying to be nice.

She got him to go to other events (that weren't dances) too, she couldn't keep only asking him.

"Because it's important." Cassandra sighs. "And it's just not healthy either, you know."

"Not healthy??" She takes a few steps further into their room and sits down on her bed, moving some books out of her way in the process. It seemed like she was going to need to get comfortable for this.

"How. I'm. I'm branching out. I'm going to a social event, that you guys would normally have to make me go to. I'm doing what everyone keeps telling to do-which is try new things-!" Aerika leans back, frustration and confusion clear on her face. "I don't understand."
