Neither of them were particularly demanding in conversation with each other, it was something that she appreciated greatly when in his company.

"Y'know, I'm not sure I actually got around to saying how you handled yourself really well with that obnoxious kid while we were all stuck in the gym." She paused. "Evan? Whatever his name is."

"Oh, yeah him. Yeah I.... thanks." you know what cassidy is terrible at? accepting compliments. "at least i got out of that gym"

She smiles,"Yeah, I just wish I could have hit him. He's such a prat. Though I'd probably just get detention or suspended." Again for fighting. "You didn't get in trouble did you?? That looked like self defense from back where Bucky and I were."

"My mother was disappointed in how small Elliot was, and my Dad was already having quite the day by the time he talked to Clint about the car." Cassidy shruged "I've got detention, but at least I wasn't stuck in that gym for another 3 hours like you were"

"...Ms.Strangenorth is unreasonable." She's trying to be polite. "She had the whole foot ball team basically, I don't understand why we had to sit there for so long." Aerika frowns and rests her chin on her hand while moving some of the food on her plate with her fork.

"I'm pretty sure it was just some bullshit power trip."

He rolls his eyes. "Next time we'll have to find two annoying punks to get of there quicker"

"There's no shortage of those here if you know where to look."

She lets out a breath, "Actually that reminds me of something I wanted to ask you." It wasn't that she was... nervous? Maybe a little.

"The anime club is outside hitting eachother with those foam swords again right now. If you need some stress relief." Cassidy put his books away in his bag. "What is it?"

"Nah I can just go to Lacross practice if all I want to do is whack people with sticks and not get in trouble for it."

"Do... You have any plans for the Sadie Hawkins dance?" Was this weird? Hell.

"No I don't. Uh, I don't expect anyone to ask me...." Cassidy looks down at his lunch awkwardly.

Why would anyone ask Cassidy honestly? Especially when there was Clint and Cameron around this year. He mistakenly had a shred of hope last year.

"Ah... I guess that makes sense." She didn't look away, though she was visibly embarrassed. "If you didn't hate the idea of going-would you wanna go with me?"

She doesn't wait long to keep talking. "I was thinking, maybe it'd be fun to go to a dance at least once in high school. An' it wouldn't have to be like as a date thing y'know? I'd... like to just go with someone that's fun to be around." She really hoped she didn't sound weird, or come off too insistent?

"It's alright if you don't."

Cassidy visibly jumps a little bit. That-that was not was he was expecting at all! He could feel his face starting to heat up and shit-he should say something. Aerika asked him to the fucking sadie hawkins dance! Like fuck. FUCK he just said that he never thought anyone would ask him and probably made her feel like shit. He was such an asshole fuck!

"Y-yeah that'd be fun" he manages to force himself to say, trying unsuccessfully to look back at her. But there was a little smile.

She didn't ask him out of guilt!! She'd been thinking of who would be nice to go with, and, she didn't want to give into cas's teasing... or prove her right. Cassidy was someone she liked being around! It made perfect sense to her to ask him.

"Really...??" Okay. Aerika's smiling a little more, excited now. "I mean. Shit. Sorry. I sort of expected you to say no."

Fuck was he really that much an asshole? Aerika was his friend.

"I... I wouldn't do that to you" He said, trying to pull himself back together. She even said it as a date? And it's Aerika it isn't a joke. She wouldn't joke about something like this??

But there was still the sinking feeling in his stomach screaming run away now before your friend sees what a hopeless shit you are.

She didn't think he was an asshole.

"I..." Hm. She's not as red as Cassidy, but she's blushing a little. How does she respond to that? Did he mean that because he wouldn't want to say no because they were friends or because something else? She was just confusing herself. "Thanks. Yeah."

"I've never actually gone to one of these things before." Willingly at least, she's been dragged to one or two by Cassandra, but never with a date of her choice to accompany her.

Hopefully, Cassidy wouldn't change is his mind? There were lots of other girls he could go with, she was sure. Definitely others that weren't as unfeminine as her. She was worried about those details, even if she never said it.

"I went last year to homecoming. Clint said I could go on my own or he would drag me and make me dance with every girl in my grade."

"This one is casual at least... so at least you don't have to go out and buy a dress? Shit, I mean you can if you want!"

cassidy went back to examining the finish on the lunchroom table

"I'm not sure if I should be surprised." She didn't really know Clint that well, but from what she'd seen that seemed fitting to his character.

Her eyes widened at the declaration, leaning back a bit as if the words had actually pushed her. "..." Well Cassidy wasn't the only one looking away now. Aerika sighed listlessly as her shoulders slumped in defeat. "I don't really have any dresses. Cassandra's shoved me into some of her clothes when she drags me out somewhere. They're better fit for petite girls like her though so I end up looking ridiculous."

She shrugs. "It's why I figured Sadies would be easier."

"I guess. I mean if you want... " no nevermind. He wasn't going to ask Aerika out to the mall. She'd definitely turn me down. "Nevermind"

She titled her head slightly. "No-tell me-what's up?"

"We could go to the mall or something before. I wouldn't mind." Cassidy shrugs.

To be completely honest Cassidy does enjoy clothes shopping. A lot more than he was willing to admit. He just wasn't a fan of malls themselves, too many people, too stressful of an atmosphere. Honestly most of his shopping was all done online.

Was he asking... her out in return? That was, unexpected, to say the least. Aerika made a few unintelligible noises before speaking clearly. "I'd."

Would he really want to hang out with her at a mall though? She didn't do crowds well, or the rush of people entering and exiting, she should probably just tell him. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. "I wouldn't mind going with you either. I don't know how long I'd be able to. It's kinda-" She raises her shoulder, making a strained expression. "-Crowded."

Cassidy sighs with relief. One of his lil crooked smiles on his face. "Thank god. I order everything online. I hate malls."

"They're a bit much for me." She admits with much less hesitation. Relaxing noticeably now.

"I can manage going with someone if it's not going to be too long, but usually I just don't go." Most of her clothes were for function, so she could just ask her parents to get new ones as needed. She didn't have to go with every time, and admittedly sports utility stores were far less populated when she was required to.

"Thanks though. For offering to put up with something you hate for me." Aerika adds with an endearing smile.
